The U.S milk goat inventory as of Jan. 1, 2018 was 380,000 head, up 7,000 head from a year earlier according to the annual “Sheep and Goats” report recently released by USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
Wisconsin leads the nation in milk goat numbers, standing at 47,000 head as of Jan. 1, 2018, up 3,000 from a year earlier. California is second, with 40,000 head of milk goats.
